- Introduction of the department
Since its establishment in 2018, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of Tianjin Chest Hospital has been constantly learning from successful experiences at home and abroad and improving equipment deployment. It is equipped with the advanced cardiopulmonary function test system from Germany, the non-invasive cardiac output measurement system from France, the Q-TEL RMS cardiopulmonary rehabilitation management system from the United States. The rehabilitation exercise area is equipped with the Precor rehabilitation treadmill, stationary bicycle with back support, fitness machine, multifunctional weight trainers, leg extension/curl training machine, abs/back muscle training machine, “sit and reach” test, grip strength devices, balance boards, yoga balls, wave balls, dumbbells, kettle bells, yoga foam rollers, etc. It is also equipped with a perfect rescue equipment. The Department has inaugurated a new comprehensive and standardized cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. It provides rehabilitation diagnosis and treatment of patients after coronary stent or coronary bypass surgery, heart valve replacement or repair surgery, and heart transplant, patients suffering from chronic heart failure, and coronary heart disease high-risk groups (high blood pressure, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, obesity and other metabolic diseases,cardiac autonomic dysfunction and other heart and mental illness），patients after pulmonary resection or COPD etc. The Department offers comprehensive cardiopulmonary rehabilitation assessment and guidance for a wide range of patients. The rehabilitation Center is located on the first floor of the outpatient department, covering an area of about 220 square meters, including an evaluation area, a diagnosis and treatment area, and a rehabilitation area. The center is in an optimal location, adjacent to the National Diabetes Standardized Treatment Center MMC,Dietary guidance centre, Outpatient and Emergency Department, Ultrasound Department, laboratory, Cardiac Function Department, and Imaging Department. It is convenient for patients' medical examination, treatment, and referral. A professional MDT rehabilitation team is composed of rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation therapists and rehabilitation nurses to carry out phase I rehabilitation (bedside cardiac surgery and critical care rehabilitation) and phase II rehabilitation (outpatient rehabilitation). A comprehensive process management is implemented to better serve the rehabilitation patients. At the same time, the Center also undertakes intern teaching of rehabilitation specialty for Tianjin Medical University and Tianjin Medical College.
Tianjin Chest Hospital Rehabilitation Center is committed to working with cardiopulmonary disease patients, customizing individualized rehabilitation exercise program, focusing on patient education, emphasizing lifestyle intervention, and risk-factor control. The Center emphasizes practicing multidisciplinary treatment methods for overall health of patients with heart disease. Its goals are for patients to receive the most benefit from optimization cardio rehabilitation treatment, alleviation of symptoms, shorten hospitalization time, reduced readmission rate and mortality rate, improving quality of life, and protecting people's health.
