The clinical laboratory

    The clinical laboratory of Tianjin Chest Hospital was established in 1947. With the development in more than 70 years, the comprehensive strength of the department has been in the forefront of clinical laboratory disciplines in Tianjin. Through years of practical work, the laboratory has concluded several job aims: comprehensive projects, new test methods, quick report, accurate testing data, and excellent service.

    Currently, our department owns 46 employees including 2 chief technologists, 8 associate chief technologists, 1 associate research fellow, 19 supervising technologists, 4 supervisor nurses,11 technologists,1 nurse practitioner, among which there are 1 post-doctoral fellow, 1 doctor, 29 post-graduates and under post-graduates.

    Our department is equipped with several majors: Clinical Biochemistry, Immunology, Hematology, Humorology and  Microbiology. It has more than 10 internationally advanced test equipments and provides more than 200 tests for the clinic, which meet the needs of clinical daily work. The main equipment of the laboratory includes Roche biochemical immune line, SYSMEX automatic blood analysis line, French STAGO hemagglutination analyzer, American BD microbial incubator, French Mérieux mass spectrometer, Mérieux automatic drug susceptibility analyzer, Roche automatic urine Analysis system, Bio-Rad glycosylated hemoglobin analyzer and so on. Through the computer network management system, the clinical laboratory sends over 700,000 reports safely, quickly and correctly to clinic every year. At the same time, the critical value will be passed through the information management system and telephone to the clinic as soon as possible, prompting the doctor to take necessary treatment to the patient in time.

    All the results are qualified, and provide reliable medical reports for clinical diagnosis and treatment. The clinical laboratory was formally approved by ISO 15189 in August 2017, which means that the quality management and technical management level of our laboratory have reached international standards, and the reports issued by it have been recognized by several countries and regions around the world.

    Besides completing our own work, the laboratory has successively obtained 11 national scientific and technological achievements, 4 provincial and municipal scientific and technological achievements, and 6 projects filled the gaps in the application of new technologies in Tianjin. The laboratory has published more than 30 Chinese and SCI papers, and currently undertaking 5 provincial and municipal scientific research projects.

    With the continuous improvement of testing technology and testing equipments, clinical laboratory is playing an increasingly important role in diseases diagnosis, treatment and prevention. All employees will focus on patients and quality, and provide clinics with more timely, accurate and satisfactory services.
