　　In the 1977, Tianjin cardiovascular diseases institute was founded. It was a department of Tianjin Chest Hospital(at No. 93 Xi'an Road, Heping District) at originally. Now it is an independent research institution. The existing research staff of 13 persons, Master's degree from the more than 9 people, senior professional titles 6, middle professional titles 4 and junior professional titles 3.

　　Tianjin cardiovascular diseases institute has six departments. The cardiology clinical research laboratory, the molecular biology laboratory, the cytology laboratory, the biochemistry laboratory, the radioimmunoassay laboratory and the animal laboratory, which is the uniqueness one achieved national standards in Tianjin Health Bureau. The institute has a variety of advanced laboratory equipments, such as, Real-time quantitative PCR, common PCR, chemiluminescence analyzer, power conversion apparatus, high speed refrigerated centrifuge, carbon dioxide incubator, inverted fluorescence microscope, electrophoresis and gel imaging system, RM6240BD multi-channel physiological signal acquisition system, HD-5 small animal ventilator and first aid defibrillator monitor, etc. Research direction: The prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease and the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease in cytological studies and molecular biology.

　　Main researches: Correlation between lipid metabolism and coronary artery disease; The role of coronary heart disease risk factors, such as, homocysteine, endothelin, renin-angiotensin, etc, in the development of coronary heart disease; The gene therapy in cardiovascular disease. The effection of Ad-hBNP, Ad-hVEGF, and Ad-TIMPs in vivo and vitro; The establishment of the biological information database of cardiovascular disease and the establishment of the associated cardiovascular disease animal models. Since 2001, the institute began to undertake the work of cultivating graduate students, each year about more than 10 inside and outside hospital doctoral and master's graduate students complete their researches.

　　Tianjin cardiovascular diseases institute undertake various research projects, more than 10 projects funded by Tianjin health bureau of science and technology fund and to cooperate with hospital finished about 10 projects. In the important domestic and international professional journals published more than 20 papers. Three projects have been awarded the Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award and a number of Tianjin science and technology achievements.
